Let’s face it the software update situation in Android smartphones is pretty bad but in this whole mess Who is the king of Android Software Updates? Which is that one manufacturer that’s actually doing something good who is the king of software updates in the Android smartphone world let’s find out and also let’s make this a little fun
Guess Your Winners!
These are all the smartphone segments that I’ll be talking about and these are all the brands that are competing so comment below is your guess on who’s going to be the winner in each of these segments comment below and let’s go Who is the king of Android Software Updates?
Low-End Phones
Let’s start with a segment where people don’t even expect updates and I’m talking about phones under 10,000 RS so here are the phones I found in a 10K and quite expectedly there’s no word on Android 13 on the Vivo Y16 or the Redmi 10A or the OPPO A16e Samsung is one manufacturer that’s surprisingly bringing.
The latest Android 13 based one UI 5 update to even slow-end phones is definitely impressive since the a03 phones were launched in 2021 and they will get the latest update just three months from now the Realme C33 is another surprise and this will get the arrow 13 beta late next year which will be late obviously since stable will take even longer but hey at least the Realme phone is getting an updated overall Samsung definitely wins in this segment.
Budget Phones
The budget phones under 20,000 RS and are the phones along with their Android 13 status see the Samsung Galaxy M33 and the A23 are all set to get the stable Android 13 one UI 5 update very soon the Realme and OPPO phones are the next best because color OS 13 betas are already.
The life of both the Realme 9 Pro and the OPPO K10 the IQOO Z6 Lite will also get the beta in January 2023 the Xiaomi phones and the motor phones do stand out here and not in a very good way I mean Xiaomi is here to announce the MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
In fact, the Android 13 beta test that I mentioned here they are doing in China is still on MIUI 13. as for Moto the G82 is promised to get the Android 13 update and I think it will get it eventually but there’s absolutely no word on when or even a beta once again Samsung is the winner when it comes to updates on budget phones.
Midrange Phones
When it comes to mid-range smartphones. there is one big surprise I’m kidding Samsung I mean these are the phones and once again Samsung is mighty impressive the Galaxy m53 and the a33 will get the one ui5 stable update in a couple of months and Samsung has been rolling out updates ahead of schedule so I won’t be surprised if they get updated even earlier.
Oppo is the next best the Renault will get its stable color west 13 updates in a few days then there’s the Redmi 9 Pro Plus the beta for which is already live followed by the Nord 2T and the IQ Z6 Pro which are supposed to get the beta in November Xiaomi phones once again and the Moto S30 remained TBA when it comes to Android 13 India no beta or stable yet.
High-End Phones
Let’s move on to more premium phones and for the first time ever Samsung is actually getting some competition no jokes this time I mean this is the whole list and the S20 FE will get the Android 13 update next month but the pixel 6A is a pixel so it’s already updated another surprise is the Galaxy A53 remember.
I said Samsung is going ahead of schedule well the A53 was supposed to get the One ui5 update next month but the stable update is already live how awesome is that anyway since these are high-end phones a lot of them have Android 13 betas available for them but yeah no stable yet.
The moto phone in the list Is once again the bad standout because there’s no word on when it will get Android 13. same with the Xiaomi 11d pro.
Flagships
Now, this is one segment where you kind of expect all the phones to have been updated to Android 13 but you know how to say expectations kill the joy deep the s22 series has obviously been updated with the z-fold and the Z flip 4 all set to get updated next month.
The Pixel 7 Series launched with Android 13 and it’s nice to see flagships from OnePlus, Realme, Vivo and Oppo update as well once again it is Xiaomi and the mode of flagships that are just disappointing.
I mean these phones will obviously get Android 13 but yeah there is no telling when and that’s bad for a flagship phone.
The King Of Updates
Look it’s pretty clear that there’s only one manufacturer that deserves to be called the king of software updates in the Android world and it’s Samsung I know Google is the fastest but I’m going With Samsung because of multiple reasons one Google has only a few phones to support while Samsung has a ton of them.
Two Samsung offers longer software update support than even Google the maker of Android plus Samsung is doing incredibly well updating its older phones honestly I feel Samsung should be the face of Android because this is one company that’s actually innovating.
I mean Samsung is doing everything long-term consistent updates mainstream foldable phones are an ecosystem that’s actually catching up with apple I know Samsung is not perfect but it is a big influence on the Android world and we’re coming back to updates.
Conclusion
Apart from Samsung and obviously Google I think Vivo and OPPO along with the sub Brands real me OnePlus and IQOO are doing decently at least they have the betas out but the worst offenders have to be Xiaomi and Moto Xiaomi hasn’t reviewed the MIUI 14 update yet and Motorola has released a list of the first batch of phones that will get the Android 13 update but there’s no word on when anyway.
